Talking with the Coast is SOPA Fine Arts’ first exhibition of 2026, paying tribute to Western Canadian artists past and present. The exhibition explores form, composition, and otherworldly colour through the lens of life in Western Canada—examining how the West has been imagined, mythologized, and reconfigured through painting and sculpture.
Featuring painters Matt Petley-Jones and Tyler Toews, sculptor Neshka Kruschke, and an exclusive grouping of works by Canadian master Jack Shadbolt, the exhibition brings together pioneers of the past with leading voices in contemporary Western Canadian art.
Shadbolt’s visionary work anchors the show as both foundation and spark, offering a lineage that continues through today’s most prolific artists.
