Material Thinking is SOPA Fine Arts’ Group Show set to close out Summer 2026 by looking at a range of different practices of artists from around Canada, and how the individual processes behind them lead to the creation of different languages and aesthetics.
Featuring new works by Shawn Serfas, Diana Creasy-Funk, and Scott Bertram, Material Thinking also marks the SOPA debut of Toronto painter Alexander Rasmussen and Montreal sculptor Sébastien Gaudette.
Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, August 6, 7:00–10:00 PM at the gallery. We will also be lucky to have several of the artists present including Alexander whom is coming from Toronto, so explore the exhibition, and learn how vastly different processes, techniques and rationale lead to satisfying works with unique aesthetics.
