We are thrilled to announce that Vancouver-based multi-disciplinary artist Deborah Bakos has joined SOPA Fine Arts! Known for her evocative exploration of shared vulnerabilities and human dichotomies, Deborah’s work offers a profound commentary on the universal experiences that connect us all. From hope and despair to justice and injustice, love and fear, her art invites viewers to reflect deeply on their own lives and the world around them.
Deborah’s diverse artistic practice spans painting, photography, textiles, embroidery, and found object installations. While her mediums may vary, her commitment to storytelling and creating visually compelling pieces remains consistent. Her mastery of multiple forms of expression is evident in each artwork, which strikes a balance between raw emotion and intricate craftsmanship.
A graduate of Emily Carr University with a Certificate of Fine Arts in Painting, Deborah also holds a Bachelor of Education in English, Fine Arts, and Media Literacy from Simon Fraser University. This combination of fine art and educational expertise enriches her creative approach, adding depth and context to her work.
Deborah’s art has been exhibited widely in public spaces and commercial galleries, with her pieces featured in collections across Canada, the USA, Turkey, Mexico, and Italy. Her ability to resonate with international audiences underscores the universal appeal of her themes and the timeless quality of her artistic vision.
Her works are currently on display in our group exhibition, That’s A Wrap, offering an excellent opportunity to experience her artistry firsthand.
