Memory is never fixed—it shifts, distorts, and softens over time. Translucence: Revisited explores the delicate space between representation and abstraction, where color, form, and texture dissolve into the hazy edges of recollection.
Matt’s work exists in this in-between, where the boundaries of perception blur, inviting us to question what we remember, why we remember, and how nostalgia shapes our understanding of the past. Influenced by his family lineage of photographers and artists, and deeply inspired by the vast landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and Canadian Prairies, his paintings capture fleeting moments—some vivid, some dreamlike—like echoes of old film photographs.
Opening April 3rd at 7 PM at SOPA Fine Arts, Translucence: Revisited marks Matt’s highly anticipated solo exhibition. Matt himself will be present, offering a unique opportunity to engage with the artist and his work firsthand.
Through luminous palettes and gorgeously layered compositions, Translucence: Revisited invites us to linger in the spaces where memory and reality intertwine, offering a fresh perspective on how we see, feel, and remember.
