Signs Of Life 3/6

I am a multidisciplinary artist who specializes in photography, mixed media, and digital media.
My practice is based in observation, focusing on light, shadow, patterns, and textures.
Photography forms the foundation of my work, guiding how I see and compose, and informing
my approach to collage, painted photographs, and layered images.
Signs of Life is a series of six large-scale photographic prints mounted to Sintra. The work
combines architectural scenes with graffiti and surface markings found in the city. I photograph
walls, building edges, and overlooked areas where public marks collect over time. When people
think of a city, they often think of noise and movement. My images focus on the opposite,
finding the quiet within the chaos.
I have always been interested in graffiti and worn surfaces, such as posters slowly decaying.
These marks sit in contrast with buildings made to last. In this series, I bring these elements
together by matching lines from buildings with lines found in graffiti and markings. This creates
a tension between order and unpredictability, and between permanence and change. The work
connects to street photography and collage practices, where I use the city as both subject and
material to construct each image.
My process is unplanned. I walk through the city and photograph anything that excites my
curiosity. This keeps me in the present and aware of details I would normally pass by. I then
work digitally, combining my own images through collage. I layer and align the photographs to
build each composition. This method allows me to move between documentation and
construction while staying grounded in close observation of everyday urban environments.
